Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes has piled the pressure on Richard Lochhead to make a choice between toeing the Government line on transport priorities or staying true to his local campaign for an Elgin bypass.
Mrs McInnes has moved an amendment to a Government motion about the Council of Economic Advisors that gives Richard Lochhead, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and MSP for Moray, the opportunity to put on the record his support for the Elgin bypass.
Alison McInnes MSPCommenting, Mrs McInnes said:
"By 5 O'clock tonight people in Elgin will know for certain whether Richard Lochhead supports an Elgin bypass or not.
"He has the chance to vote for it. There is no hiding place.
"He can stand up for his previous promises and vote for the bypass to be put into the Government's transport plans. Or he can vote against the bypass in order to keep his ministerial job.
"He can't do both."
