Commenting on the launch of the consultation on the Draft Housing (Scotland) Bill, Liberal Democrat Housing spokesperson Jamie Stone MSP said:
"More affordable housing is desperately needed, particularly in the rented sector. Everybody should be able to afford to keep a roof over their heads.
"There is now an overwhelming case to abolish right-to-buy for new build council and social landlord houses.
"I'm pleased that the Scottish Government has listened to the Liberal Democrats and many other interested parties and will legislate to remove the right-to-buy for new build social housing.
"Liberal Democrats will also be calling for local authorities and housing associations to have a bigger say in housing decisions. We believe that local councils and housing associations are best placed to make key decisions about right-to-buy and their remaining housing stock."
