Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale MSP Jeremy Purvis responded to the joint initiative between Scottish Borders Council and the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADAR) to issue keys to accessible toilets in the Borders.

The RADAR key has been made available to people receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with mobility component, those who claim Attendance Allowance (AA) or anyone with a Blue Badge.

Commenting, Jeremy Purvis said:

"I am very pleased to see this initiative go forward as it will make great strides in moving toward towns that are accessible and provide amenities to everyone.

"It is good news that both Scottish Borders Council and RADAR have worked hard to promote and implement this initiative. I'm sure that the scheme will also be welcomed by all those who qualify, which is the most important incentive for it to be introduced in the Borders.

"I have had very persistent and patient constituents lobby me on this issue and I then made a number of representations to the Council on this. I am pleased there is action as a result of this perseverance."
